"New Year Resolution or Permanent Change?"

By Ann Golden Eglé, PCC , CPCC Of Golden Visions Success Coaching

Which is that you are after as you enter 1999? You have numerous great intentions. The possibilities seem limitless. So does your energy and enthusiasm at this moment.

Do you want to lose 15 pounds (New Year resolution) or create a healthy lifestyle wherein you will feel great and are not carrying the extra weight (permanent change)?

Are you planning to increase your sales by 20% this year (New Year resolution)? Or, do you intend to have a life that is so balanced with every aspect flowing so smoothly that you realize successes beyond comprehension in all areas (permanent change)?

If your are after permanent change, how do you begin and how can you assure success? Setting the intention and maintaining that vision on a daily basis is a huge first step toward moving ahead with your permanently changes.

Another option is to hire a professional coach. Personal and professional coaching, once a perk confined to high-level executives is now expanding to help folks with every day life. Coaches are now being hired by everyone from CEO’s to entrepreneurs to artists.

Coaching has skyrocketed this past decade with the emergence of people wanting to be more, learn more and experience more than they can do on their own. They want to dig deeper inside and find their personal best. Like professional athletes, many have hired a personal advocate to motivate, inspire and challenge them.

While newly in vogue, coaching has been practiced for centuries under names such as mentoring, tutoring or guiding. The Coaches Training Institute defines this new more refined coaching as a "powerful alliance designed to forward and enhance the lifelong process of human learning, effectiveness and fulfillment."

Through weekly sessions, a coach can help you make permanent changes in your life. A coach will work with you to define and focus on goals, identify areas of change, clarify and honor values, keep you on track, challenge you to accomplish more, give unbiased feedback and make you accountable and responsible for your actions.

Individuals throughout the country are enhancing their lives through this forward moving mode. "I spend less time in the office, am more productive, finally know when ‘enough is enough’, am making more money and smiling more. I never realized I had so many choices! So very empowering!" says one Washington State Realtor.

The ease and convenience of coaching is an additional reason for it’s increasing popularity. Most sessions are conducted over the phone so the busy 90’s person on the move does not even have to leave their office, studio or home, let alone search for a parking space! Change is one of the most difficult challenges one can undertake. Change does not happen over night. If you are serious about making the changes that you envision this year, whether they are new years resolutions or permanent changes, hiring your own personal coach is one option not to be overlooked!
